AMIS Honor Band to perform at Aberdeen Festival

A selected group of 11 High School Concert Band members will travel to Aberdeen, Scotland to attend the Association of Music in International Schools Honor Band Festival from March 13-16. An additional 14 middle school students are also attending the festival to perform with other students in Grades 5-8 from international schools.

School plans to replace Schoology with alternative

Students will no longer use Schoology beginning in the fall, as it is likely to be replaced by a different learning management system, according to Tech Coordinator Mark Scharen. The leadership team made the decision following the technology department’s triennial evaluation to determine if the current LMS was meeting student and faculty needs.

Peer leaders embark on retreat to Wolverhampton

Grade 12 students in the Peer Leadership Practicum went on an annual retreat Sept. 1-4. Peer leaders, who mentor Grade 9 advisories, spent several days a few hours outside of London at a bunkhouse in Wolverhampton to bond with their classmates and learn teamwork skills.

Hurricane Ian reaches community, spurs discussion around climate change

Hurricane Ian hit Florida’s western coast with intense wind and rainfall, causing more than 114 deaths, according to The New York Times. The hurricane initially developed over the central Caribbean Sea Sept. 23 as a tropical storm, according to World Vision.
